Carnegie & Greenway Medals winners and trip to Backwell School

2012 is an historic year, as for the first time ever, the same book, A Monster Calls,  has scooped both the Carnegie and Greenaway Medals. The Carnegie Medal went to author Patrick Ness (who had already won last year with Monsters of Men) and the Greenaway Medal went to illustrator Jim Kay.

Every year, our book group meets up with Backwell School’s for a Carnegie Medal Celebration Day. This year it was Backwell School’s turn to host and we thank you whole-heartedly for their warm welcome and hospitality. Both groups’ favourite was Between Shades of Gray, but as it is often the case, it did not win!

And here are some of the magnificient cakes prepared by Backwell students:

Thank YOU Churchill people for making the day such a success!
We have just shared the last of the Stuppa cakes and Everybody Jam tarts with the Etherington Brothers who were in to work with Year 7 today!

We hope to meet you again soon – via Skype 🙂
